In the spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt.~ Margaret Atwood
Springtime is like a breath of fresh air, when everything in nature brings promises of new life and hope. The days are longer and the temperatures begin to warm. Flowers begin to bloom and birdsong fills the air.
Springtime is a good motivator to spruce things up around the house. A thorough top to bottom cleaning of rooms, decluttering, switching out textiles such as pillows and throws, adding some potted house plants, and maybe even rearranging a few pieces of furniture. All of these ideas will freshen up a space, but don't forget the walls! Adding some seasonal artwork will also add to the spring decorating vibe, completing the renewed look.
Lilacs are a springtime favorite. Oh, how I wish they would stay in bloom longer! I waited and waited for a friend's lilac bush to flower so that I could snip a few of it's branches for this piece. Placed in a vintage canning jar, these lilacs promise not to drop their blossoms and will keep on blooming throughout the summer months!
Technically, hydrangeas are considered an early summer flower but I say why wait! These delicate, cascading blooms will definitely brighten up any space.
This matching pair of botanical prints can be displayed side by side, and work for the spring decorating task by adding a touch of nature.
Spring is a time of renewed energy, and I hope that these ideas will inspire you to bring that energy into your living space!
