About

I am a mixed media artist living along the front range mountains of Colorado.  My art journey began with photography and eventually led me to encaustic and mixed media painting.

Painting is nurturing to my soul.  Making something that previously didn't exist is both exciting and magical for me.  Time slows when I am at work in my studio and I experience a sense of calm which I hope is translated to my paintings.

I am currently represented by Bella Art Gallery in Monument, CO.

 

Artist Statement

My paintings are mixed media abstract woodland landscapes.  I am inspired by the play of sunlight through the trees in the mountain forests that I frequent and nature's calming atmosphere.  My intuitive process involves applying several coats of acrylic paint with textural marks along with hand made collage papers and vintage paper ephemera that are partially hidden between the layers, creating depth.  Inks, graphite and charcoal are also incorporated.

Through my paintings, I aim to gently guide the viewer into a world reminiscent of being among trees in nature and my wish is that my work will evoke a relaxed, tranquil emotion.
