ART WITH AGED PAGES

Paper ephemera gathered from discarded vintage books enhances the story being told within each piece.

Ephemera is used throughout my painting process, lending a nostalgic nod to the past and adding to the story of a piece.  These aged pages are often covered in layers of paint and remain only partially, if at all, visible.

ABOUT

During the mid 1980's I attended photography school in Rhode Island and years later became self-taught in the digital photography format.  While traveling throughout rural areas of the country I photographed landscapes and barns while selling prints online.  I also trained with accomplished encaustic artists to learn the art of painting with molten wax.  Most recently, I began working with acrylics, a medium that allows me more freedom to experiment with my artistic voice while fulfilling my desire to create one of a kind original pieces.

My subject matter is and has always been primarily landscapes.  I spend a lot of time in the outdoors and this is what fuels the inspiration for my work.

I paint intuitively, in a semi-abstract style.  This relaxed method of painting produces a calm and at ease feeling that mirrors my response when I spend time in nature.  My wish is to evoke a similar emotion in those who view my work.
