Let's Talk
If we were standing side by side in a gallery and you asked me about my work, this is what I’d say.
My earliest connection to art didn’t begin with paint — it began with photographs.
Growing up, I spent hours looking through National Geographic magazines. The images were vivid and immersive, especially the landscapes. They felt like you could step right through the page and be there. It wasn’t just what I was seeing, but how it made me feel — a sense of awe, curiosity, and longing for places beyond my own surroundings.
That feeling stayed with me.
Over time, my creative path moved from photography into mixed media painting, but the intention never really changed. I’m still chasing that same quiet sense of wonder — those moments when light shifts across a landscape, when the world feels briefly suspended, and you can’t help but stop and take it in.
Nature does that to me constantly. A mountain range outside the window, changing with the weather and the light, can stop me in my tracks. And when something feels especially beautiful, my instinct isn’t to experience it alone — it’s to share it. To call someone into the room and say, you have to see this.
That impulse is at the heart of my work.
Rather than painting literal places, I create abstract, weathered interpretations of nature — pieces that live somewhere between memory and landscape. Through layered surfaces, softened forms, and earthy, timeworn tones, I aim to capture a feeling rather than a view.
My hope is that these paintings offer a quiet pause. A moment of recognition. Something familiar but hard to name — like noticing the sky just before sunset, or standing still a little longer than planned.
If my work makes you feel that — even briefly — then it’s doing exactly what I hope it will.
